BRANSON, Mo. — Kevin Short kept plugging away each day and saved his best performance for last to win the season finale Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Central Open at Table Rock Lake.
After catching only three fish and sitting in 22nd place on Day One, Short added four keepers and jumped up to fifth place the next day to make the Final 12 cut. The Mayflower, Ark., angler bagged a five-fish limit weighing 15 pounds, 7 ounces today to amass 33 pounds, 8 ounces and claim his fifth B.A.S.S. victory.

FLORENCE, Ala. — After Monday evening’s torrential rainstorm, Bassmaster Elite Series pros awakened Tuesday to clearing skies, crisp air and the rising water of Pickwick Lake.
More water in a lake that was already about 4 feet higher than normal made Tuesday’s final practice day a puzzle. The high water and faster current could help some pros and hurt others on Wednesday, the opening day of the Alabama Charge.

That’s what Kevin Short says about the leaders in the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Northern Open race to the 2011 Bassmaster Classic — and he is one of the leaders.
“It’s amazing how tight the points are. I think Ryan (Michigan’s Ryan Said) has a pretty good lead on everybody, but I have to say even he’s not safe. I say nobody’s safe,” Short said heading into the season finale next week on the Chesapeake Bay, from which the Northern’s two Classic qualifiers will emerge.
