Regional Tournament Berths On Line At Two-Day Super Tournament
ELKTON, Md. (Sept. 2, 2010) – The Bass Fishing League is headed to Chesapeake Bay Sept. 11-12 for the Northeast Division’s two-day Super Tournament. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $11,000 and $4,500, respectively.
“This is the time of year when the bass are coming out from underneath mats,” said Castrol pro David Dudley of Lynchburg, Va. “There’s a little bit of rock and riprap, but typically it will be won in the grass. Guys should be flipping Berkley Crazy Legs Chigger Craws or other crawdad-type baits. And you’ll have to downsize the bait to flip the heavy mats.”
Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Anchor Marina located at 36 Iroquois Drive in North East, Md. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. each day while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
The Chesapeake Bay BFL tournament is being hosted by Cecil County Tourism.
The top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings following the tournament will qualify for a regional championship where boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the FLW American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
