Chris Lane of Guntersville, Ala., made it look easy on Florida's Harris Chain of Lakes in the kick-off event of the 2012 Bass Pro Shops Southern Open series. As the only angler to weigh in 20 or more pounds of bass each day on the way to his third B.A.S.S. win with a three-day total of 72-11 pounds. Clifford Pirch of Payson, Ariz., finished second with 58-1.

It was a day of regulars and records on the Harris Chain of Lakes at the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Southern Open. The regulars were local anglers like Chris Lane and Tim Frederick, who continued to show their dominance. The record – at least for B.A.S.S. history on these waters – belonged to Bassmaster Elite Series rook Jared Miller of Norman, Okla.

Kevin Short kept plugging away each day and saved his best performance for last to win the season finale Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Central Open at Table Rock Lake. After catching only three fish and sitting in 22nd place on Day One, Short added four keepers and jumped up to fifth place the next day to make the Final 12 cut. The Mayflower, Ark., angler bagged a five-fish limit weighing 15 pounds, 7 ounces today to amass 33 pounds, 8 ounces and claim his fifth B.A.S.S. victory.

Janet Parker fell out of contention Friday for a Bassmaster Elite Series berth in 2012. The bass pro from Little Elm, Texas, finished in 100th place in the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Central Open on Table Rock Lake, knocking her out of the top five in the circuit's points race. She was aiming to garner a top-5 invitation to turn Elite and become the first female Elite pro in the sport's history.

Tommy Martin is spinning some of that old magic that has made him a 19-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier. The Hemphill, Texas, pro will turn 71 next month, but he has showed no signs of slowing down during the first two days of the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Central Open at Table Rock Lake. Instead, Martin is full of vim and vigor as he leads the event with 22 pounds, 5 ounces and is the only angler in the entire field to catch a limit each day.

Janet Parker of Little Elm, Texas, is no different. Fishing was tough enough before Mother Nature threw a curve for the opening pitch of the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Central Open today at Table Rock Lake. A prolonged Indian summer has kept bass in a holding pattern for weeks at Table Rock and the first major cold front of autumn hit this week to put the fish into more of a fall funk. He rode a hot frog bite all three days and backed it up with a prototype flipping bait to sack 51-2, more than 2 pounds ahead of runner-up Michael Simonton. "I tell you what, this feels awesome. I've won on all the (B.A.S.S.) levels: an Elite Series event, Federation-level event and now that I've won an Open it feels really good," he said as he clutched his trophy.
