Chapman Wins Walmart Bass Fishing League Northeast Division At 1000 Islands

Boater Bill Chapman of Salt Rock, W. Virginia, caught a five-bass limit weighing 25 pounds July 23 to win $3,205 plus a $1,000 Evinrude bonus in the Walmart BFL Northeast Division tournament at 1000 Islands. Chapman was drop-shotting tubes in deep water.

Vince Lawyer of Webster, N.Y., caught a five-bass limit weighing 22 pounds, 7 ounces July 23 to win $1,603 in the Co-angler Division. Lawyer was also drop-shotting tubes in deep water.

The next BFL Northeast Division tournament is scheduled for Aug. 20 on Oneida Lake in Brewerton, N.Y. After the fifth Northeast Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 13-15 Regional Championship on Smith Mountain Lake in Huddleston, Virginia. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
