Water Levels Could Affect Catches
CARROLLTON, Ky. (Aug. 11, 2010) – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to the Ohio River Aug. 21 for the fourth of five stops in the Buckeye Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.
“It’s been pretty tough lately,” said FLW Tour pro Christian Romans of Carrollton, Ky. “If we get some rain and the water level comes up and produces some current you can do pretty good at the mouths of creeks and flats. If there’s no current you have to go finesse fishing. If you get too much rain, however, it’ll get muddy and then it will really be tough.
“It’s going to be one of those where 8 to 10 pounds will win,” Romans added.
Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Point Park located at Main and First streets in Carrollton, Ky. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers that offers even bigger prizes to qualifiers of the regional championship and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
