With a 2012 schedule comprising 120 regular-season tournaments across 24 divisions, regional competition and one of the longest-running championships in the history of tournament bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American – the BFL is the nation’s largest weekend bass-fishing circuit.

Aaron Arning wins co-angler title

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 24, 2011) – Tommy Robinson of Westland, Mich., won the Walmart Bass Fishing League (BFL) Regional on the Barren River Saturday with a three-day total of 15 bass weighing 40 pounds, 12 ounces. For his victory, Robinson won a 198VX Ranger boat with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard motor plus a Chevy 1500 Silverado and a berth in the BFL All-American Championship tournament. This regional tournament featured the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers from the Great Lakes, Hoosier, Illini and Michigan divisions of the Walmart FLW BFL circuit.

Bass spread out for Regional Championship anglers from Great Lakes, Hoosier, Illini and Michigan Divisions

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 12, 2011) – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to the Barren River Oct. 20-22 for one of six Regional Championships. This three-day tournament features the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers from each of the Great Lakes, Hoosier, Illini and Michigan Divisions. They will be competing for a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower outboard and a Chevy 1500 Silverado in the boater division and a new Ranger 198VX with a 200- horsepower outboard in the co-angler division.

Boater John Wright of Shelbyville, Ill., caught a two-day total of 10 bass weighing 31 pounds, 3 ounces Sept. 17-18 to win $3,893 plus a $2,000 Ranger Cup bonus in the Walmart BFL Illini Division tournament on Lake Shelbyville. Wright fished ledges and used a Zoom worm and PB&J jig.

Boater Heath Wagner of Angola, Ind. caught a five-bass limit weighing 22 pounds, 3 ounces Aug. 27 to win $3,021 plus a $1000 Mercury bonus in the Walmart BFL Michigan Division tournament on the Detroit River. Wagner used crankbaits in 12 feet of water on the north shore of Lake Erie.

Boater Dick Shaffer of Rockford, Ohio caught a five-bass limit weighing 12 pounds, Aug. 27 to win $3,505 plus a $2,000 Ranger Cup bonus in the Walmart BFL Hoosier Division tournament on the Ohio River at Rocky Point. Shaffer fished using worms in wooded areas on the main river and in creeks.
