Every young tournament angler shares the same dream - making it pro. But in today's world this dream is often laughed at by society. I have had countless people tell me "that isn't realistic," or that I'm full of myself for thinking I could ever become a professional.
There are a wide variety of sports and competitions that take place on the high school level. From football to cross country, from volleyball to soccer, student athletes have a bevy of extracurricular options to pursue. Some of these garner more attention than others, while some of the less traditional high school sports are given barely any attention at all from 98% of their communities.
Michigan bass pro Skip Johnson wins 1st FLW Tour Title in his rookie season
Add another name to the growing list of Michigan bass pros making their mark on the tournament trail. Skip Johnson of Goodells, MI made headlines – and heads turn – by notching his first Walmart FLW Tour win in the last event of the 2014 season held June 26 – 29 on Kentucky Lake.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College Athletic Department announced the addition of Bass Fishing to its athletics roster. The College is the latest to add one of the fastest growing collegiate sports in the country to its athletics arsenal. The program, set to begin for the 2014/15 academic year, is the latest addition to the Bulldog's 32 club and varsity teams. Athletics at the College have garnered national attention in recent years, with this announcement being no exception. The program is slated to be among the nation's first varsity bass fishing programs.

I had the distinct pleasure of riding along with one of the best professional bass anglers in the world Wednesday, the last official practice day for the 2014 Bassmaster Classic. Of course, we were on Alabama's Lake Guntersville and I was with Megabass Bassmaster Elite Series pro Aaron Martens.
