RICHMOND, Va. — Kelly Pratt of Williamsburg, Va., is one day away from earning a berth in the 2012 Bassmaster Classic. He extended his lead on Day Two of the first 2011 Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Northern Open at the James River despite catching less than he did on Day One. He brought 13-13 to the scales today for a total of 30-3. Once again he drew on his nearly 40 years of experience on the James to retain his lead.

RICHMOND, Va. — Kelly Pratt of Williamsburg, Va., put his vast knowledge of the James River to work for him today as he sacked 16 pounds, 6 ounces to take the lead in the first stop of the 2011 Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Northern Opens. Though he burned a considerable amount of gas, most of his fish came from one log.

The thing that Bassmaster Elite Series rookie Ott DeFoe is looking forward to most about the Douglas Lake Southern Open isn’t the potential for 25-plus-pound stringers, and it isn’t for the chance to earn a berth in the 2012 Bassmaster Classic. It’s the fact that he gets to sleep in his own bed.

The Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Central Open on Table Rock Lake has been postponed until the fall, and will most likely be rescheduled for October 2011.
Capt. Gary Haupt with the Water Patrol Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said that all events on Table Rock Lake have been canceled through Sunday, May 1. The Marine Patrol cited public safety and property damage concerns as the main reasons for revoking the permits that are needed to hold tournaments on the lake.

CORNELIUS, N.C. — Fletcher Shryock got off a dirt bike and into a bass boat four years ago, and couldn’t be happier. The Newcomersville, Ohio, pro has only recently become serious about bass fishing, but is on his way to the 2012 Bassmaster Classic with his win at the second Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Southern Open on North Carolina’s Lake Norman.
