Palaniuk pops up: Rookie Brandon Palaniuk of Idaho turned in a third-place performance Thursday by sight fishing.
“I caught my two biggest bass on beds,” he said. “The biggest one (a 7-4) I got about 15 minutes before I had to come in.”
Palaniuk made waves early in the season with a fourth-place finish at the Bassmaster Classic, also by sight fishing.
