Holy crap  !!!!  I understand now.  lol  You won't catch me in those areas.  All to catch fish.  Now would these adventures accross skinny water be for tournament or fun fishing?????

Also what does sni's stand for??

[/quote]

Well I was doing it for fun/pre fishing last monday and the pics show what I just got through fixin today, I broke two jack plate bolts and my skeg guard bolts, I found a new place to put a skull and crossbones on my GPS  ;D
I didnt go back to see what it was but whatever it was it wasnt there last year.
Dont worry Bobber Im not going back there...this weekend  ;)

The Sni's are all the little backwater finger canals that come off the river and drop into the bays.

Yup Dave I think I know the place...and lawnmowers work for good bedding areas also.
Go Big or Go Home!

djkimmel

Ouchy... two motors is my limit. I'm staying out in the open water.

Yeh, Skip has his spring areas pretty well protected! LOL! Did you know that 4 bass can bed on a quad. Strange huh.

Interesting.  I have a couple of quads that I'd be happy to donate to the fish.  Sick of making payments on them.  That would make 8 more beds!  I'd probabl get the same amount of use from them.  I could drive over there to fish 3 times a year, and that would be more than if I rode them.  That really sucks.

speaking of saftey, does any one else have/use marine radios? i've got two (one to lend) hand held cobra marine radios fully charged and ready to go just in case a lawnmower or a quad jumps aboard the bcat.
if you do monitor the radio what channel should we have tuned in?

djkimmel

You can hail on 16 still I think and switch over. When I have mine on I usually have it on 68 or 69 I think. I don't have it on that often though. Nice to know it's there though in case I need it.

About every 4 or 5 years I get lectured by the nice lady at Selfridge for violating some rule or another :)

I'm missing about 3 inches of paint from my skeg from the last time I cut across the back of Goose/Fisher Bay. I've been avoiding that type of water for a while now so I only remember where the car in the middle of Goose is and the big tractor tires.

Last time I ran way back into Big Muskamoot near Little Muskamoot I ran by some sharp, solid metal thing sticking up out of the sand, looking real wicked!?! No more loosey, goosey running around back there for me in a while now. I did see a lot of junk that day, but it's been a while so I don't recall all of it. Maybe a jet ski or something similar? No quads.

The back of Goose/Fisher was where my friend got stuck so bad trying to run into hidden lake that it took 6 hours and a 1,000+ feet of big rope to get him out of there. I'd rather be fishing ;D

Good things there's all those bass along the Mile Roads!! No cars or quads to run into either.

I'm going to try and check out mapquest.  Is there anyone with directions, say coming up 94???

djkimmel

It's really easy. From the south on I-94 East, get off on Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd) Exit 236. Take a right (East) and stay on that until you get to the light at the entrance of Metro Beach.

Turn left at that light onto Jefferson Ave. There's a big Valero gas station on that corner the way you turn.

Stay on Jefferson until it ends at South River Rd. Turn right onto South River Rd.

Stay on South River Rd until the very end were you take a SHARP right into the Harley Ensign ramp. If there's someone at the booth it is right there.

Once you enter the big parking lot, I suggest everyone with trailers park on the left along that first drive until nonboaters are picked up since all the non-trailer parking is on the right along that first drive. We can drive around to the ramp after everyone partners up.

Hey Dan, thanks for the directions.  Between that and what I found on Goggle earth, I'm all set.

Looks like if you plug this address into you GPS:
32995 South River Rd, Harrison Township, MI 48045

At least this works on google maps.

The ramp phone number is 586-465-2160

Never too late! Especially for boaters. I don't have to worry about finding a ride.

There are a few things I wanted to do, to get my ducks in a row.

1.  Dan, do you have some kind of form we fill out for our fish??

2.  Is there going to be anyone else up there tomorrow??  Me and Tcook are heading up and should be on the water by noonish.  Prolly launch out of Crocker.

3. Anyone else staying at the Red Roof Inn in Roseville??

4.Hey Jerkbait, partner,  I'm trying to get a hold of you.  Check messages.

5. I regularly visit this site.  Don't make a ton of posts though.  I'm still struggling with matching faces with screen names and screen names with real names.  There are a few I think I could pick out of a police lineup but not many.  lol Anyone else want to post here showing name, location and maybe a pic??   Here goes.  Hope the pic works.

Jeff,  Mishawaka Indiana, Looks like this mug  !! lol

Firefighter Jeff

I forgot to add, we'll be in a boat that looks like this.  Stratos 294 with a ETEC.
