Michigan Angler Gets More Than He Bargained For Fighting 8 Foot Caiman
By djkimmel on Oct 1, 2010 | In Peacock Bass Fishing, Brazil, Amazon, Rio Negro, Exotic Outdoor Adventures
While fishing the Rio Negro deep in the NW part of the Amazon in Brazil, Jim Taylor decided he'd like a picture of a small caiman like Randy VanDam did the day before. After spotting a possible subject floating in a backwater, Jim hooks into a beast that turns out to be a big full grown 8 foot spectacled caiman. And he's an angry caiman!! Here's an intro video for the full video. Check it out and watch the full battle (edited down to the best 10 minutes) on the forum at http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?topic=8910.0

Steve's Apocalypse on the Rio Negro
By djkimmel on Feb 21, 2010 | In Peacock Bass Fishing, Brazil, Amazon, Rio Negro
Peacock bass fishing along the Rio Negro is a total adventure. The trip was made up of some expected and even hoped for happenings, pretty much all of it a first for me. Some parts of the first time adventure were completely unexpected. Steve's apocalypse definitely falls into the latter category since we were unprepared and not expecting this at all!
Everything that happened made this a trip I'll never forget. Particularly the invasion of our boat the second night in the Amazon jungle.

This is a pretty cool feature I can point you to thanks to a fellow trip mate Dave Gizzi. Dave wore a satellite GPS device during the day that recorded his travels throughout our 2010 Exotic Outdoor Adventures Rio Negro River peacock bass fishing trip using Google mapping! Very cool!!
