Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Just before the October Natural Resources Committee meeting on Thursday, October 9, Commissioner John Walters added an amendment to Fisheries Order 206 – “Bass - Closed bass CIR season from May 1 – Friday before the third Saturday in June for Burt, Mullet, Crooked, Pickerel, and Black Lakes and their connecting waters.”

Outdoorama 2026 / 2025 Ultimate Fishing Show Det...
Last post by djkimmel - December 18, 2024, 11:06:20 AMBelow is the volunteer schedule for the 2025 Ultimate Fishing Show Detroit. Volunteers who work at least 2 hours will get a free exhibitor pass to the show that is good for the whole show. I can only give passes to persons who help at the booth so please stay at the booth and help out during your time(s)! I will need extra help on Saturday during the Ultimate Bass Clinic between 2pm and 5pm for the 2-hour seminar.
UPDATED 1/2/25 (07:25 AM): Booth 3054 - Please help me keep the schedule up-to-date. PM or Contact Me if you have a change or any questions.
We could use 2 helpers for ~30 minutes after the show ends Sunday for tearing down, and packing the booth and materials into my car. That would be awesome if you can help!?! All volunteers will be added for a year to the special GLBass Friends group if not already in there (extended otherwise). And you will have my eternal thanks and appreciation (which you can remind me about
)!
BOOTH VOLUNTEERS SUMMARY
You will get more details in the private volunteers area of the forum. You will be able to see it once I add you to the temporary show group. I will state a few things now. I need people who can talk to others in an outgoing, friendly fashion about joining the websites - mostly GreatLakesBass.com and GreatLakesIceFishing.com, handing out stuff and just answering general questions about fishing. NO ALCOHOL in the booth. No sales or giveaways of items not pre-approved by me before the show. I can lose my booth from that.
This is only a 10x10 booth so there's not a lot of room for extra friends, family and stuff in the booth. Please NO extra people behind the table or blocking the table front who are not on the volunteer list. Much of the time I can run the booth with one extra person being nice for help and breaks. There are the potentially busy times afternoon-early evening Thursday (KVD), mid-Friday and mid-morning to early evening Saturday where 2 helpers might be nice.
I will also have be away from the booth from some time to be announced later Saturday, January 13, afternoon for the Ultimate Bass Clinic I help Wayne with - usually ~2pm to ~5pm. Extra help during that time is very much appreciated!
The schedule can be adjusted to accommodate people willing to help who can't fit one of the existing time slots. The slots are just approximations. THANK YOU!!!!

This particular trip we stayed near the west arm of Traverse bay. It's been our tradition that I go fishing the first 4 hours of the morning while she sleeps in and has her coffee. That is always the fastest 4 hours of my life. I wish work days went that fast. This day I had 4 hours to figure out the west arm of Traverse Bay. That place has some tanks swimming around in there. I'm definitely going to have to get back there fishing again. Below is a video of the morning trip I did.

Lake Erie - Detroit River Bass Fishing Reports / Crazy Things Seen While Fishin...
Last post by Bigbass201 - November 15, 2024, 06:23:35 AMThis question is for just this year. What is the oddest or craziest thing you witnessed while fishing this year? Mine was late summer while fishing with my channel partner Jim. We went out of Port Clinton Ohio on Lake Erie. The first one that caught us by surprise was a lady coming out of her home as we were fishing the bank. She had a well fitted bikini on and we tried not to make it obvious as we took a look her way. The next thing you know she walks down to the beach and out in the water coming towards us. We were only in about 3 foot of water so first thought was is she going to walk all the way to our boat? Was she made because we were fishing in front of her beach front home? Nope! Instead she gives us big smile and drags some kind of core digger for taking samples. She walks about 15 feet from our boat and bends over giving a full shot of the cleavage as she turned the core around and around. I know I should have just turned the GoPro right in her direction, but I didn't . Lol. It was pretty apparent she did it on purpose. You can see her in the intro part of the video in the link below. It was a distant shot as we were moving away.
The next thing that happened was just a couple hours later. We were fishing the Portage River mouth where it enters Lake Erie. There is heavy boat traffic that is constantly going in and out of the river. Including the giant ferry boats that go to the islands. People line the rock pier and fish all the way up and down for catfish. This young man was fishing when a yacht got a little too close to his catfish line. The next thing you know the boat's intake sucked his line up ,and his rod took off from shore as it was sucked in the intake. He was furious he lost his fishing pole. That is around the 3:55 minute mark I think in this video. What was your craziest thing you seen in 2024? Sorry Dan, The embed links just don't work in this forum for some reason.

As usual, we kick of the 2025 fishing show season with the Ultimate Fishing Show - Detroit! January 9 to the 12th, 2025, at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi! I'll be there, so you should be there too! We might not have ice safe everywhere yet so at least you can show up and talk fishing! No excuse for those of you who don't ice fish! Better than sitting at home.
Outdoorama, the All Outdoors Show and middle sister of the three Ultimate Sport Show Tour events, runs February 20 - February 23 in Novi at the Suburban Collection Showplace again!
