From the Huffington Post
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) -- The Brazilian government confirmed this week the existence of an uncontacted tribe in a southwestern area of the Amazon rain forest.
Three large clearings in the area had been identified by satellite, but the population's existence was only verified after airplane expeditions in April gathered more data, the National Indian Foundation said in a news release Monday.

Already one member of GreatLakesBass.com is confirmed going which is nice because I like to fish with my friends! The first week's group, approximately January 7 - 14, 2012, is full. While fishing the Rio Negro deep in the NW part of the Amazon in Brazil, Jim Taylor decided he'd like a picture of a small caiman like Randy VanDam did the day before. After spotting a possible subject floating in a backwater, Jim hooks into a beast that turns out to be a big full grown 8 foot spectacled caiman. And he's an angry caiman!! Here's an intro video for the full video. Check it out and watch the full battle (edited down to the best 10 minutes) on the forum at http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?topic=8910.0

Steve's Apocalypse on the Rio Negro

Peacock bass fishing along the Rio Negro is a total adventure. The trip was made up of some expected and even hoped for happenings, pretty much all of it a first for me. Some parts of the first time adventure were completely unexpected. Steve's apocalypse definitely falls into the latter category since we were unprepared and not expecting this at all!
Everything that happened made this a trip I'll never forget. Particularly the invasion of our boat the second night in the Amazon jungle.
