Peacock bass fishing along the Rio Negro is a total adventure. The trip was made up of some expected and even hoped for happenings, pretty much all of it a first for me. Some parts of the first time adventure were completely unexpected. Steve’s apocalypse definitely falls into the latter category since we were unprepared and not expecting this at all!

Everything that happened made this a trip I’ll never forget. Particularly the invasion of our boat the second night in the Amazon jungle.

Everything that happened made this a trip I’ll never forget. Particularly the invasion of our boat the second night in the Amazon jungle.

It started harmless enough. Though the first few invaders did get my attention. I’d never seen any this big! Giant grasshoppers fluttering into our boat. You could hear them coming from quite a ways out heading for the boat!!

Found out quick they had a strong grip if you tried to pry them off the boat, but I managed to get a hold of one and take a picture for the trip record.

We didn’t take him serious at first when Steve said, “this is it guys! It’s the apocalypse!” and went back to playing cards. Here’s Steve telling Pat about the start of the apocalypse with a few of the invaders hanging around including a big one on Pat’s back.
