Fall MadWags what do you want?

I'm thinking about when, where and how to do the fall West MadWags Memorial. You have so many tournaments over there that there is no 'open' date. What date and lake(s) do you suggest? If I can get ~14 or more anglers to participate I will hold it and show up working with whatever we have.

Don't think I'll be able to make it, but Elk or GTB sound like a good bet.

Given the size of the turnout for the Fall events the last few years, I'd say maybe change up and go for a convenient location, so if folks want to make a weekend of it, they have options for hotels, camping, and going out.  Duck or Green by TC fit that bill with Interlochen SP between them.  Charlevoix, Leelanau, Elk, and Torch also do, but they add another hour or hour and a half drive for anyone coming from the east.  I'd also be open to fishing the bay.

Sitting on a balcony overlooking White Lake in Whithall wishing I had my boat.  Lake looks awesome.  I think you were here a couple years ago.

Still say from the  fall weights I have seen Sanford Lake would be a good central location for an outing.   Not really interested in driving all the way up north to fish 2/days.  Just my .02 cents.

djkimmel

I'd like to see my 'east' members come over but it is for the 'west' members primarily since we already have an 'east' tournament in the spring.

I like the idea of going north for good smallmouth bass fishing but can we get enough people to come up and do in on a particular day in the fall?

I dive over for the east side open every year. It would be nice to have a true west side open again. Everywhere we go is at least a two to three hour drive. The last 4 fall opens have been a bust due to poor fishing and crap weather, along with lack of participation.

I say Fremont Lake.

Fremont Lake isn't a bad idea from everything I've seen about it in the past...

portage chain of lakes,

Portage Chain by Pinckney? That definitely would not count as a West side event... Has to be Grand Rapids and west to count. Still seems like some people want to go North but maybe not as many now??

Fremont sounds good to me, depending on the date. If it is a weekend I am off I would definitely be up for making the drive over to that side of the state.

djkimmel

I'm starting to like the idea of Fremont. It's a ways but not way up north. Has good fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass judging by the weights I see often. It can handle our lately average number of boats from what I've seen and heard. I've never been there and have wanted to go... hmmm...

Fremont is 20 minutes east of North Muskegon. I've fished 25 boat tournaments there, and never had an issue. It would be fun.

What about Saturday, October 3 on Fremont Lake?

Unfortunately I work that weekend. My work schedule requires me to work every other weekend.

djkimmel

So other than tjrock not being able to make it who could/would make Saturday, October 3 on Fremont Lake? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
