I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

We are now on weather watch. Right now the 10 day calls us unfavorable with a wind spike out of the NW at 20 mph. A west wind shuts us down. So here is what we got: Sunday 9am  Sterling Dec 30th

Mojo n F Benn (aka WSBF)
Don and Bob
YpsiBass and Yukon

Let's watch the weather - and hope it changes in the next 6 days. Cause in Michigan that almost never happens.  ;)

I hope it works out for you guys. I wish I could make it over for that day, but I just can't.

Must be the magic of Christmas that has Mojo awake?

LennyB

Mojo, If your heading to Erie, some of the slack water areas already have thin ice. The hot ponds will be open for sure though.

YpsiBass

Is anyone going to check the launch before Sunday?

Mojo

Not planning on it. Here is our priorities,:

1 Weather, weather and weather - A west wind bigger than 8-10 shuts us down.

2 Safety -  Waders, rope, life jackets on at all times outside the pond. warmers, waterproof lighters, matches, kindling for shore fire, blankets, phones. I got all this.

3 boat care-  aluminum boat leads us in - easier to pull off a shallow, no damage to fiberglass

4 c & r a bass

5 c & r a keeper bass

6 c & r another 6 lb  bass

7 c & r Allota bass

8 c & r allotta big bass

I can attest to an aluminum boat being easier to push off a shallow. I promise you that it is no easy task to push a 20 foot Skeeter off of one, as I had the priviledge of doing last Sunday night.

Mojo is definitely a planner. Most of all, have fun and be safe fellas. I'm looking forward to seeing pics.

Mojo, it looks like the whole crew jumped ship on you. I just did a ramp check, and our ramps are open. Waterfoul and I are hitting Muskegon Monday morning. Too bad the east and west side aren't about two hours closer together.

I've been in the hot pond over 100 times, I've had to learn the hard way that when theirs less than 15" on the Fermi chart your at serious risk of grounding, less than 5" and getting in or OUT becomes extremely difficult. Can't wait to see this report, the stiff west winds dropping water faster than a tidal swing. Sometimes your better off staying home watching fishin shows, if your out there, Good luck Mojo Lol.
Go Big or Go Home!

Mojo

Only one boat - not two, ended our mission. It was a safety thing. The wind moved to 15 mph and waves went from 1-2 to 3-6 by mid afternoon.  We wouldnt a gotten out even if we had gotten in.  Three separate guys PMd me saying they have wrecked, or seriously damaged their boat in the last month.

Folks, from what we learned, the hot pond is treacherous EVEN during the normal fishing season, and by the end, it's down right dangerous. I used to think people would tell others this to keep the fishing to themselves, but the truth is, once November hits, it WILL get expensive.

Skip - thanks for the chart you sent me is extremely handy. we didn't go out, so I'll hit 80 acres this afternoon for a nice winter hunt.

See y'all at the shows or Bobs for the Swap Meet.

Yep, these winter months definitely add to the risk when on the water. It's still fun, but you really have to be careful, and not go with what you know,  but go with the changes that occur in the lakes. Good decision Mojo. Glad everyone is safe and sound.

bob o

i'm glad to see everyone played it safe today, maybe a small plastic boat drug in from one of the near by houses could be an option, they are not on the pond but way back in the skinny water south west of the hot pond. ::)
