headed out tomorrow can anyone help me with where to fish and depths its my first time there and dont have any idea where to start thanks in advance

I'm not from around there, but there is a ton of info here on the site. If you have time, go through some of the recent reports, if you haven't already. I know there are also some members who sometimes see posts like this and shoot private messages, in hopes of helping, but not giving their "spots" away to the whole world at once.

Good luck. Let us know how you do. It is a big body of water. As I found, it is difficult to be an LSC novice, and pin point where the fish are.

yea im kinda woried about getting there and wasteing my gas and time and not catching any fish that i have heard so much about i live near lansing mi so its a 1 1/2 hour trip one way

I'm an hour+ away and went there this evening for only the second time this year. I was only out there for a few hours after the traffic and the Coast Guard vessel safety check. The check was actually pretty good and didn't take too long, and I passed. It was pretty windy so that limited me a little and I didn't run out to the middle of the lake. I stuck closer to shore and fished mainly 8-12' of water. Best fish was a 4#-5oz smallie but fishing was pretty slow. I would suggest moving around a lot as I should have done. If you aren't getting bit on a tube, drop shot, or cranking then I'd probably move but that is what I mostly do out there.

If you get a chance check back in Sat. evening.  Many members will have reports from Saturday.

I can relate to that. It's almost a 3 hour drive for me one way. As you can see in most reports, a lot of guys hit the mile road area. One thing I learned there is that you start out close to shore, and if the fish aren't there, you just keep moving deeper. Be very alert while running. You never know what will pop up out there.

It is an absolute riot when you get into fish out there. I fished it with Mojo back in May. Although we didn't get anything over 3 or 3.5#, we caught some fish. We were all over that lake. Look for big groups of boats. That will give you an idea of where the fish are. It is simply amazing to me the way they fish over there. Keep your respectable distance from other boats, and just go with the flow of everyone else. We don't fish like that here on the west side, so it took me some getting used to.

And, as was said earlier, check back here tonight for reports. I'm sure there are many guys going over there today. A phone with internet can be a very useful tool.
