This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

There's a gar in there too!!!  I have only seen one gar out of water, but never one in captivity. I used to have a 135 gallon aquarium. At first it was fresh water. I had just about any kind of native fish you could imagine. I had a largemouth, walleye, perch, bluegill, several different carfish, a smallie, a sturgeon, a peacock bass, and a tiger muskie in it. All of these fish were bought at a local pet store, and were all about 4 inches long.

I eventually decided to go to salt water, which brings me to the point of this post. I had two lion fish that got to anout 11 inches in length, and boy did they eat. I would buy 50 of the big feeder gold fish every two days. Within a minute or so, all would be gone and all you would see is scales falling to the bottom of the tank. The lions would look like they had swallowed golf balls. It was ridiculous. It sure was fun to watch. Just like that bass in the video.
