Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Took a buddy of mine from work, and 3 of his kids out on the lake last night. He's not the least bit interested in fishing, or water for that matter, but his kids love it.

The weather was awesome last night. Just a slight breeze, the lake was like a sheet of glass. There wasn't a whole lot of boat traffic. The sun was out. It was great.

We leave Fisherman's about 4 o'clock. I headed for the channel. We tried a few spots, and ended up with just a couple of bites. No clue what they may have been.

After 5:30 I finally got us on some fish. We got into them good. Good mix of large and smallmouth. All were caught in less than 10 feet of water, on the bottom. Water temp was 56 at the surface. We boated close to 30 fish by 6:45. The kids had a ball. Yes, I let them fish. Our biggest was a 19 inch 4# largemouth that I accidentally set the hook on.

It was a nice evening. The kids loved the boat ride. The Skeeter with the 5 of us did just shy of 65 mph. Can't complain there. But most importantly, I got to watch my buddy be the proud papa as his kids all caught fish, and smiled like it was Christmas.  I was really happy to see the kids all hook up. None of them had ever fished a Texas rigged plastic in their lives.  Now, there are 3 early teens hooked on bass fishing.

I enjoy watching kids catch fish. My boy was supposed to go, but he's got his head so far up his butt, he didn't make it. I have to teach him that school comes first.

Good for you Mike  !!!!  Awefully nice of you to take them out and show them a great time on the water.  I'm sure the kids loved the boat ride.   :)
