Went over to Wolverine for a few hours last night.  This was the first time my daughter (14 months old) went out on the Ranger.

My son (3 years old) was excited as ever to be going fishing.  He could hardly eat his dinner he wanted to go so badly.  After dinner we made the short drive to Wolverine and launched the boat.  Lydia (my daughter) loved the boat.  We idled across the lake to a large point, and began to look for some late spawners or fish gaurding fry.

All of the fish were done on the beds.  I spent quite a bit of time helping Luke with his casting.  He has not been on the water much recently, and his casting was out of control.  With some time, he was starting to get better at it, remembering how he practices in the driveway.

As we moved down the shoreline, i started to see some clouds of fresh hatched fry.  Below them, sure enough were the females gaurding them.  Made for some easy fun for us.  Nothing big, but several in the 2 1/2 lbs range.  Good fun for the kids.

Quite a zoo with 2 little kids on the boat (plus a wife).  The good thing is that nothing was destroyed and everyone managed to stay in the boat.   ;D

I notice you didnt post who caught the most. Did your son beat you? Sounds like a good time on the water. Glad your kids enjoyed it, it is always good to get them involved in the sport.

He didn't yesterday, but he did beat me last Saturday fishing off the pontoon at Granddad's (Reel_Man) house.   :o  Just was I need, a 3 year old putting a whuppin' on me!

You had to see them first last night...I saw every one before I caught them.  I would point them out, but then his cast was too out of control to get it right where it needed to be.  He never caught any last night.  He almost cried as we were loading the boat on the trailer!    :'(
