I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

I would to request you join and share with us the most impactful or best advice anyone ever gave you on fishing. Not that I don't enjoy reading from our regulars, but I'd like to start 2017 hearing from the guys who read up, catch some insight - and can now return the good cheer !
Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

EVERYONE has SOMETHING to share! I firmly believe that! Bring it on!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I think the best advice I've ever read is that someone is always catching fish on the lake you're on or will bring in a good bag, so if you're not catching them you better change what you're doing or fish a different area/depth. I can remember only one tournament that I've fished where everyone struggled to get a limit and that was on Higgins Lake last year in September. In fact, no one got a limit and first place won with 3 fish and 2nd-4th only had 2 fish. It has always helped me to stay confident knowing that when things seem tough, someone is catching them on that same lake and I just need to figure out what to do to get a good limit. Some other good advice is to not listen to dock talk. I'm still working on that one. Last year we brought in 20 lbs on day 1 of our classic and were only 1/2 pound behind first. We heard the fist place team was throwing swimbaits over vegetation and decided to do that the next day instead of sticking to what we were doing. We struggled and didn't adjust soon enough and suffered the consequences.

I have to admittedly say I've been one of these guys as of late.  I apologize to the GLB community for my selfishness.  I don't fish many tournaments like I used to but I find the tournament guys are more guilty of this than those of us that like to just fish for fun.  In my opinion and it's only my opinion that the tournament guys don't want to share anything because they need those fish on tournament day.  The guides don't share because of the paycheck they earn out there.  Very understandable.  I haven't shared too much over the last couple of years because of the ones who have "cherry-picked" my spots when I shared.  Some have never ever returned the favor.  So I'm very careful about what I share anymore.

I can not speak for djkimmel but I think this forum was started as an avenue to share bassfishing information so that the community at large is successful.  When I first came on this site, djkimmel told me that he was asked why I shared so much information.  I answered him with, "Isn't that what your forum is all about??" His answer was yes.  So in the spirit of this forum, I'll do my best to change my ways and share more and maybe through personal messages rather than publicly.  But I will share.  I'll share publicly but not too specifically so that I don't get "cherry-picked" again.  But remember, you should have a little information for me in return.  It's the right thing to do.  After all, you're never wrong for doing the right thing.  I think Mark Twain said that.

Don't hesitate to make a change.
This is probably the best advice I could give to anyone.  Whether it's a bait, a technique, or a spot, don't be a single dimensional fisherman.  Every time I go out, my goal is to fish as many different spots, techniques, and baits that I can in the allotted time I'm able to spend out there.  Since my surgery in July, that's been about 4 hours.  I can't go much longer than that.  I have been working hard and will be working hard over this winter to try to get myself back into shape so that I can last a full 8 to 10 hours out there.  For me that means more spots, more techniques, and more baits.  It's all about getting your moneys worth.
