Saturday Practice Day GuidelinesBoat volunteer serves as a coach and can fish. Advises on lure presentation, lake locations, etc to help catch fish. Give tips on scenarios/conditions students can face on Sunday because students are required to make all decisions on Sunday. Boater volunteer operates combustible engine at all times.
Sunday Tournament Day GuidelinesBoat volunteer serves as a tournament official and cannot fish. Cannot give students presentation or lake location advice. Can help students care for live well fish because big water care is more important than most students are use to. Boater volunteer operates combustible engine at all times.
Tournament day guidelines are meant to keep an even playing field. The purpose of these guidelines is for student owned boats to not be put at a disadvantage to students fishing on local volunteer boats. But as a team event students on the same team may communicate during the tournament.
Rules Overview – Students will have full rules pack
• Standard tournament safety rules apply. i.e. PFDs required when gas motor on.
• Standard tournament dead fish & late check-in penalties
• Each boat can weigh in 5 fish
• Winning school determined by best 3 boat total
• Communication allowed between school members during tournament
• U.S. waters of Lake St. Clair only – Detroit & St. Clair Rivers off limits beyond boundaries - see map below.
