The "Something Old" is a new handmade cedar deep diver with polycarbonate lip painted in my goby pattern.  I actually put  this one together without sticking a knife in my thumb  :D.  I'm hoping it will get down to about 12 feet, but won't know until the soft water comes.

The something new is 2 DD 22s done in a new-ish yellow perch pattern.  The bars and back look black, but they are a nice deep dark green pearl.

Fantastic look Jeff. I am still in awe of your goby pattern. I almost want to filet those perch. LOL

Those are some good looking paint jobs!!! The perch pattern is awesome!!! What are the chances of me getting a hold of one of those or some of my own???

Bender

That perch pattern looks great! That seems to be about the only thing I can catch through the ice up here and they look just like that.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Looks just like these from the ice, they were a little brighter right when they came out of the water I think:

Jeff, What is the secret to getting the lip on straight? Is there a pattern that you use or is it just a guess?

Bill, Cut your lip slot while the block is still square, and make a center mark that you can align with the center of the lip (take measurements and mark the center line on the lip as well).  If the initial cut is square, you should be pretty close to square when you glue in the lip.

I used a pic of a freshly caught jumbo to paint these up.  The colors were really bright, especially the yellows and oranges.  I was pretty happy with how they turned out.

Jeff, Have you ever used the preformed bodies and if so how do you line up the lips on those

There are some bodies that come pre-cut.  They are pretty square, although once the bodies are shaped, they may look a bit "off".  If you are buying the precut baits without a lip slot, well, you better hope you have a steady hand and a pretty good eye...lol.  Oh, and sorry I called you Willie...don't know where that came from...
