I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

I'm interested in this product for taking better care of my rods. I installed an Osprey rod holder in my 97 1850 DC Astro, but I want more protection. BPS, Cabelas and Gander Mountain sell them. Who has used them from GLB and what are the pros & cons of them?

fowlmouth

I use the Gander ones, only because they were cheap ($3 at the time). They are probably 5-6 yrs old and have held up fine, could be a little longer though. Someone used to sell custom ones on ebay, reasonable and in longer lengths. Not sure if they are still available on ebay or not, I think the person that made them was on BBC also.

Hooksetter

I use the Gander Mtn. rod socks also. I bought about 20 of them when the store in Flint? relocated and I got them on clearance for $2.00 each. All except one have held up well [the elasticity went out of the strap] and I use them all still. The only draw back is they are not really long enough for any rod over 7'.

Peace.
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

I've been using the Cabelas ones.  They have two kinds.

One you can leave the crankbait on, and the other not.

Here is the one I use:

The price is $5.99 but they do go on sale every once in a while.  Usually it's one of their Spring items.

I know I didn't pay that much for them.  More like 3 or 4.
I've had them for a couple of years and like them a lot.

When it comes to a real cover though, I prefer the BPS models.  Especially for spinning reels.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I use stick jackets http://www.stickjacket.com/Web/Home.php
I like these for a couple reasons:
1) I can color code my rods to make it easy to select what I'm looking for in the rod locker
2) It doesn't matter if you get them wet because of the material. They dry quickly and don't mold/mildue
3) It doesn't matter if a hook gets in them - they stretch and the hook comes out easily, not like cloth
