Doing some damage control after the tourney's this summer. Any help or tips would be helpfull.  Thanks in advance.

*My "weigh in bag" has a pencil sized hole in it.  I noticed this after I had a wet leg. :-\'  Any tips on a repair?

*My Hummingbird started giving false readings... irratic depth jumps and false fish.  Is this fishfinder NFG or can a person clean a transducer?

skeeterman190

ha get a new bag..or use duct tape.. i dont even think i have one??.. i would say prolly transducer issues but hummingbird?? i would buy the new Lowrance..

I'm very happy with my Humminbird 767. No problems. Nice features.

I don't have the expertise to figure out what might be wrong with your's. How is your transducer mounted?

As far as the weigh in bag. Dry it out real good and put a nice patch of reinforced duct tape on both sides?

I had the pleasure of dealing with Humminbird Tech Support one time, and was very happy. They actually seem to know what they are talking about, and were able to solve my issue in 5 mins. You might give them a call.

Holes in your weigh in bag just give them character...You don't want to look like a rookie with a new weigh in bag do you... ;D

Exactly!!

Then again you can get one of the black ones from Bass Pro for under $20.  I go thru one every 2-3 seasons.

I wonder if a wadder patch would work for fixing that hole in ur weigh in bag!?!? I would think duct tape would come off after it got wet a few times, but then again, i've never done it! =)

I was thinking some wadder patch sticks.  Not so sure about the duct tape... Maybe some Gorilla tape.  I bought the clear one this time, going to get the black one next time.

And I guess if my Fish finder takes a crap, its time to buy a new boat!  ;)  I dunno... :-\'

Dan

You're kidding right? I had a heart valve repaired 6 years ago with duct tape.

How about this for TMI.

The original duck tape made during WWII.  It was for keeping ammunition cases shut, and water proof.  It was called duck tape either because it repelled water like a duck's back, or because it was made of cotton duck material with the adhesive attached.  Soldiers  learned that it could be used for a variety of repairs.  They used it  for the purpose of quick, water proof, in the field repairs on just about anything.  The color of the first duck tape was green.

Every man worth his salt has got a least one roll of it around. Why heck, it's not just a good idea, it's down right patriotic to fix things with duck tape.
Worth a shot, and cheap too.
Now a days, you can even get the tape in your favorite decorator color.
I'd try the tape.
And if you do, now we have 1002 uses for duck tape.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Per Red Green  ( if the women don't find you handsome they should find you handy) or something like that LOL That man is the Guru of duct tape

Give me duct tape, a tennis shoelace and a wrench, pliers or screwdriver... I can get all the way back from Algonac to Elizabeth Park... or from Sand Point to Bay City! No Problem!!

Figured it could fix a bag for a while? Cheap! (Or just get a new bag ;D )

BHarris989

Duct tape is the obvious choice

Lightningboy

Just be thankful you had enough fish to weigh that you needed a bag.

I could live with a wet leg at the end of each tx... ;D

Waterfoul

You can even get CLEAR ducT tape.  I have it here in my store... stop on in and I'll make you SUCH a deal!  LOL!!   ;D  I even have a nice new 788c on display!

If they made clear duct tape, I would buy it!  ;D

I 788c would be nice. But I dont really need the GPS.  I dont fish big enough water to justify it. It also might look to nice on my POS boat! I do need to purchase something before spring though.

Skulley

Sounds like a new weigh in bag is in order.  You can go to Bass Pro and buy a new transducer for your Hummingbird.  They cost about $60.  Any trouble I have ever had with my Hummingbird has been transducer issues.  They don't last forever.  The unit will almost last you a lifetime...........almost!!!

They do make clear duct tape!  Try your local Menards.
