Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

The bite has been very slow recently but the weather has finally stabilized with lows in the 10s-20s and highs in the upper 30s-low 40s. Water temp has settled around 50 and been there for a week. The weather was chilly and windy today, but a beautiful fall day so I had to head out to the lake this afternoon. I got on the water just after 3 and fished until almost 6, the best few hours I've had all year. I went to a very wind blown main lake point that I have never fished before and started working the jerkbait and the bass were all over it. Largemouth were up closer to shore and smallies were out a little bit. Once that bite slowed down I went to the drop shot since I was marking a lot of big fish down 20-25' near the bottom. Like a video game, you see the fish, drop the bait on him, THUNK! It didn't always go that smoothly, but several times it did. :D
I finally decided to head in before it started getting dark and wanted to try to hit a point near the launch. I pulled up and came in with the trolling motor only to see somebody had beat me to the spot! I was the only boat on the 6,000 acre lake, but I did have competition from this bald eagle. :o It figures that I didn't have my camera today and the cell phone pics aren't that great of him. I let him hold his ground on the point and headed in.

Some pics:

The eagle is up near the wood

Yesterday the blade baits were working well:

Water temp was still 50 even though air temp was 39 in the afternoon. Sunny and most fish were 18-25' down. Except pike, they were shallow and of course like traps.

Incredible quality on all those fish.

That takes a lot of skill to get action shots of your own fish while fighting them! 8)  Those are some nice fish.

It's about an hour over to Plattsburgh. I've only been out there once so far and I didn't get huge numbers of fish but did have good size:

I should try to get out there again soon.

Keep posting pictures like these, and next summer there just might be a caravan from here to NY!
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.
