Finally, the water warmed, the moon was in the right phase, the Mile Roads cleared up, and WHAM, hundreds of beds everywhere.  We got out at 7 and lost count of how many fish we caught.  The best part was the quality of the fish we caught.  No 2 pound bucks for us.  NO...   We loaded up with a crap ton of 3s, 4s, and 5s.  All healthy, big fish.  The trick for us was to get outside of the crowd.  There was a flotilla of boats on the Mile Roads.  I was pretty surprised for a Thursday.  Lots of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky boats.  So we chose to fish OUTSIDE of them.  By that I mean we got a little East of them in deeper water and we founds hundreds of beds in 12' of water.  Instead of trying to fish beds that were getting HAMMERED by a hundred other boats, we fished much less pressured fish and we were rewarded big time.  It just goes to show you, you don't have to follow the crowd.  Go find your own fish and don't be afraid to fish deeper.  In 12' we could see plenty of bottom and the beds were very easy to make out.  We didn't even need to sight fish them.  We put out a sock and let the wind take us slowly down the lake in about a 1/2 mile area and we couldn't even have a conversation because we kept getting bit.  It was a fun morning, the kind you dream of.  We were South of Memorial Park BTW.  Fished mainly a NED Rig.

My buddy did really good on some waypoints I gave him in that area.      At least they will have a little time there before this weekend.  A lot of them will be riding to Harley or other launches for the American Opener.

Nice report Revtro! Glad you finally got out when things were agreeable. Not much of that going on this spring...

They won't catch them all. They never do. Too many of them out there for that. The bass will be fine. We need MORE fishing out there, not less. According to the MDNR, overall fishing effort on the big lake is only 50% of what it was in the 1980s. That's the actual concern...

The way the wind has been blowing this spring I bet the hours are really reduced.

Think I remember seeing the opening day tournament was postponed until Sunday. Looks like they got good and wet that day too.
