Has anyone been fishing up North recently? I'm heading up this coming week to try some new lakes (100 to 200 acre lakes in the top of the mitten area) and was wondering if the water temps have cooled down yet. I went out on St. Clair and the Lower Detroit River this week and its still like summer time fishing there with the water near 70 degrees.

Thanks in advance for your input

I was up there with a friend this weekend thru tuesday. We covered a lot of water with two boats. Water temps on the lakes I hit were all about 65 degrees FYI. I fished Charlevoix, Bellaire and some others near the area. Fishing was tough as its not quite fall weather. The fish we caught were big but just not many bites on anything we tried.

Water up this way is just too damm warm. Hopefully over the next week the lower temps and clouds and rain trigger the fall feed. Careful on those small lakes, Duck season opens tomorrow morning at 7 am .

Heading up to do some puddle jumping for the week. I'll post how we do on my return. So far the forecast is good as far as decent weather and the Fall color should be nice. Hopefully the fish think so too.

Just got back from a fall fishing weekend in Northern Michigan. Water temps were 60 to 62 degrees. No rain and air temps in the 60's. The wind was howling pretty hard the first three days then backed off on the fourth day. Fishing was pretty good. Basically we went to all new lakes. A lot of the lakes were sterile, sand bowls with small fish but I did manage to find a couple new good ones.

That's good! I remember going to a new lake up there that was basically a shallow sand bowl. I guess those lakes are made up for when you find one that is actually good!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
