I will be looking for more boater volunteers due to increased interest in the 2017 Michigan Legislatives Sportsmen's Caucus Lake St. Clair bass fishing outing on Monday, May 15, 2017. More people want to fish the great bass fishing on spring on the big lake!

How it works is we provide volunteer boaters to take out MLSC members (State Senators, Representatives and staff), MDNR and MUCC people catch-and-release bass fishing on Lake St. Clair. We meet between 8am and 8:30am to get ready, have a quick meeting and match up boaters with the anglers. We launch and fish the morning from around 9am until noon. Then we meet for a meet-and-greet luncheon with the anglers.

Lots of great opportunity to communicate with your elected officials and the MDNR.

I will need about 20 boats I'm guessing. Some will probably have to take 2 anglers out unless we get a lot of boater volunteers. Odds are the anglers may not have life jackets or fishing tackle so they will need to borrow from the boaters.

We have not decided where we will launch at or eat yet for the 2017 outing. That will be announced as plans come together.

If you can volunteer for this important event please let me know. The 2015 and 2016 events went very well earning us lots of good will!

Its a wee bit early for me to make a solid commitment, but I would be very likely be willing to take a day off work to participate in this event.  Of course no more than one angler in my boat, and no Marxist libs  ;D

I have done it 2 years in a row and politics never came up.  The Representative I had this year was more of a hunter than a fishermen.  He grew up around lake st clair and knew it well.  Instead of fishing we took a 2.5 hour boat ride up the channels.  Passed by his brother inlaws house.  Came down the middle channel and I stopped a fished a couple spots.  It is just a day to get someone that represents us outside.   Having it in May will offer much better bed fishing opportunities.
