Not wanting to waste such a nice stretch of good weather I said yes to BryanP's offer to go fishing on Wednesday 5/25/2016. He was practicing for 2 tournaments so we picked one of the lakes to go to - Grass Lake - a lake I've never been to before.

I probably won't go back. What a weird lake... ;D

BryanP caught a number of bass but they were all dinks. I caught more pike. Of course, I'm on a pike tear this year. We fished a lot of different areas for a couple hours without getting on a good keeper bass bite. Bryan saw one nice keeper in one area and we saw some bluegill beds in a number of places but could not find the keeper bass.

So we left Grass Lake and went to Wamplers. I like Wamplers Lake a lot better. It was pretty breezy making seeing key spots difficult. BryanP did better than I did but I managed to catch one nice smallie to his several. Then I got on a largemouth crankbait bite and we caught a fair number of bass including some keepers.

BryanP caught a really nice smallie and lost a mini-toad largemouth on the crankbaits. It was a lot more fun than Grass Lake for me. I did feel bad for breaking off a largemouth that was on a bed. Hate to do that but sometimes no matter how hard you try things don't work out as you want them.

In the end it was another fun day fishing with Bryan. He's one of the best anglers I get to fish with once in awhile.

I finally get one of the nice Wamplers Lake smallmouth bass to bite!

A small crankbait largemouth bass keeper I caught on a crankbait from Wamplers Lake.

BryanP whacks a big inland smallmouth bass on a crankbait from Wamplers Lake!

We caught a number of other bass but I took a picture of this nice largemouth bass BryanP caught from Wamplers Lake because it's the first calico-looking bass I've ever seen. Pretty cool looking bass!

The End. Until next time...
