Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Went out to Maceday Lake on Saturday morning to prefish for a club event.  Started out the morning on a flat just to the right of the launch.  Weeds were pretty sparse so we ended up skipping weightless wacky senkos under pontoons and docks.  First pontoon boat had the motor all trimmed up so skipped a watermelon black flake senko underneath it.  WHAM!  Fish hits and just starts peeling line.  I had the drag set pretty low using 6lb. fluorocarbon, but it took so much line I had to turn it up a bit.  So much line and the fish is just running around underneath the dock. Thought I'd lose the fish, but eventually got it out of the dock area.  Ended up being a 20" largemouth.  The boater I was with casted back behind the boat just afterward and hooked at 19.5" largemouth on the same dock.  Nice start to the morning.

Afterwards, we spent the better part of the day just moving around to other parts of Maceday and Lotus lakes skipping senkos. Most of the fish we caught were in 3' of water with a drop behind us.  Straight up shallows didn't yield anything except a few dinks. As long as the fish had access to some nearby deep water, we caught fish.  Cast up to a seawall on Lotus and caught a few smallmouth, 15" and 17".

Eventually moved back to Maceday and fished a weed flat near a deep drop off opposite where we started in the morning and finally managed a topwater bite. Caught one keeper LM and a few more 10-13" fish on a Luckycraft Gunfish.  Rain managed to stay away, but it was cloudy all day.  Water temps were right around 72 degrees, about the same as the air temps.  Fun day fishing.  Looking forward to the club event this week if the rain can stay away.
