Well this was my first bass fishing trip of the year in Michigan so what better lake to hit then Kent. I just had my trolling motor repaired at Wonderland Marine and wanted to do a shake down run before i went to lake Murray in SC this weekend for the FOM national championship so I stopped on my way home. Here is how it went.

I went to one of my favorite spring time bays to see if I could get anything going and on my second cast with a McCarter stick I landed a largemouth that went 5.7 on my digital scale. Not bad for my first michigan bass of the season. The water temp was 64 and this fish was about 5 feet off of the bank. The fins were not beat up at all so I am guessing this fish was looking for a boyfriend that had a bed all ready for her.

I moved down the bay a little bit further and my second bass came on a Horny toad. There was a "V" coming threw the water from 10 feet away and what an explosion when it got to the bait. This fish weighed 5.2

Not bad so far. I called McCarter to rub it in that I was fishing and he was working and cast out my McCarter stick while I was talking to him and my line takes off with one right around the 4lb mark. I proceded to talk to him and give him the play by play as I was fishing and landed 3 more while talking to him that were all good 2 1/2lbers.

Not long after I hung up with McCarter, Dartag calls me up to see were I am as he was driving threw the park and he came down to watch me catch some more. While he was BSing with me I land a smallie that was just over 3 and loose another giant that was well over 4.

I ended up with about 2 dozen fish in this one little area and they were still biting when I had to leave. Besides, I ran out of McCarter sticks in Kent lake Killer color so I was done fishing anyway.

McCarter make me some more sticks man.

Wish I would be in town for the ABA this weekend because I know were I would be fishing.
