Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

I have a good friend who is selling his 1995 Viper 18' (it's a big 18'... probably closer to 19').  Built by Cobra boats (VERY popular south of here on the big impoundments and reseviours of KY, Tenn, Missouri, etc...).  Dual console.  Fuel injected Mercury 200 that runs like new.  Newer prop (it threw a blade off a couple years ago on one of our trips to Table Rock Lake).  Motorguide trolling motor (it's the only thing on the boat I'd replace... it's a bit dated).  This is a spotless boat, he is very meticulous about it.  Always wiped down and vacuumed.  Stored indoors it's entire life.  Trailer is in very good condition.  Boat is Black and Blue, very nice looking.  Has Lowrance electronics (one is an HDS 5).  I've fished from this boat several times and it's fast and rides great.  It's a John Storie hull so it's solid and built to last.

He's asking $600-70000 for it.  I think it's worth every penny and then some.  He's got a new boat on order and is going to trade this one in if no one buys it before then (delivery date on the new boat is April 1st at this time).

I don't have any pictures of it but if you would like to talk to Rick about it let me know and I'll get you in touch with him.  He's in the Kentwood (GR) area.  I know you can't take it for a ride right now, but I can vouch for this boat... no test drive needed!!!

Updated.  Here's what I got from Rick today:

1995 Viper 188D 18'8", dual console, with a 1996 Mercury 200EFI, Motorguide Brute 24v trolling motor, Lowrance HDS 5 gen 1 with insight at the console and Lowrance X-96 at the bow, single axle trailer, boat cover.  Boat has been stored inside, is clean, and is in good shape with everything working.  Recent updates include a new propeller and jack plate.

Asking price is $6500.  That's below average retail.   So this is a great deal on a very nice boat.

Not familiar with the boat.  Have you been on St Clair or Erie with it?  How does it handle the bigger water?

I was off a little with the price... I adjusted it in the above post.

As for it's rough water ride, he has been taking it to Table Rock lake since he bought it brand new and I know for a fact that it handles the water down there better than any 18' Ranger ever made (which is what I fish out of down there).   John Storie got his feet wet (pun intended!) building race boats before he got into bass boats.  Down there you see a LOT of Cobra boats, which are the same as this Viper and the guys seem to really like them.

If you are still interested, let me know.

Sold to me!!!!!!

For real? Awesome!  I used to see a lot of Cobra's up on Green Bay.  The word up there was the rough water ride on those boats was neck and neck with Champion's, which is saying a lot.  Congrats!
