Just bought a Lowrance LMS480M, looking to get a mmc card for it.
I fish Lake St.Clair and river mainly. Any recommendations/suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

Retired and living in Algonac, PLENTY of TIME to FISH.

Highly recommend the Lakemaster Pro.  I used it this summer side by side with a Navionics and I felt it had much more detail and accuracy.

When you are in any contest you should work as if there whereto the very last minute a chance to loose it.

Look past what they want you to see.

I agree with lakemaster Pro.  The only benefit of the Navionics is the shallow water zone is a different color shade.  This would be a good reference for running in places like the lower detroit river and around the St. Clair channels.  You don't have a color unit to see the difference, so Lakemaster is the way to go.

I like that the Lakemaster maps keep getting improved with more accurate detail - that is an important part of their business. I have not used Navionics, but have always heard good things. I notice lately though that Michigan Lakemaster updates have created maps that more accurately portray the true contours than the other maps out there.

Pretty important to have accurate maps. The main reason I keep leaning to Lakemaster is their business model to constantly update and improve map accuracy and detail - many lakes are now down to 3-foot and even 1-foot contours!

I'll be talking to them again at Grand Rapids to find out the latest when I get a chance.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Thanks for the Great Replies fellows. I was going to buy the Lakemaster and you guy's have helped me to finalize my decesion.

I live in Algonac near the DNR launch, if you ever want to get together to do some fun/relaxing fishing give me a call. Your boat / my boat (Triton) I dont care.

Thanks for the input,

I have been reading up on these and one guy said that Navonics just scans the paper maps of all lakes that are not indicated in High Definition. I am curious because Navonics says they have 76 lakes mapped in Livingston County and Lakemaster has only 11. None of those Navonics lakes are HD though. If they are just scanned DNR maps then they are mostly 50 years old, better than nothing but not very accurate. I did manage to fish 12 of those 76 lakes last year and only about half of the ones I fished are covered on Lakemaster.

Since you can download all those DNR maps for free anyway, I like the Lakemaster because the lakes it does cover tend to have much better detail.  I fished Cass last season and had the Lakemaster in and the detail was awesome.

I have lakemaster, it's the only one I've used so I can't compare but I like it.  You get all of the great lakes and st. clair so it's well worth the price.
