I am embarrassed to admit this, but...I fished the last regular season event of the Huron Valley Bass / Washtenaw division, Sunday on Belleville Lake.  It was the toughest day of fishing that I can remember in the past several years.

Water was pretty typical for B-ville, stained with visibility a little less than a foot.  Morning temps were low to mid 70's but a few degrees warmer by afternoon.  Fairly large schools of shad all over the lake, particularly up in the river, however there was surprising little feeding activity going on.

Our morning fish came from the river.  Plenty of undersized largemouth hanging in thick matted weeds along the river channel, ambushing bait fish fell prey to spinner baits cast just beyond the weedline reeled back on the surface then paused at the edge of the weed line, and allowed to flutter down, were more than the young bass could handle.  Strikes were ferocious!

By mid-morning, disappointed by a lack of keeper size fish in the river, it was time to head to mid lake, only to find more schools of bait, with very limited signs of feeding activity.  Spinner bait continued to produce a few small largies with an occasional small brown fish.  A few fish were caught on rattle baits on the same feeding pattern.

By early afternoon, in a desperate move to make something happen, we attempted to find keeper fish on points and channel swing banks, with the same amount of luck.  By 3pm, we were back to weigh-in with an empty live well, for the first time in quite a few years.

Two lessons learned: 1) There is a reason why I don't fish at a higher level...I suck!  2) I still hate Belleville Lake, in fact " Screw the entire Huron chain, all the way back to Ann Arbor."
BTW...I have a 2005 Legend in great shape with very low hours that I will sell cheap or trade for anything to get me into a different hobby (maybe golf clubs or a motorcycle).  I will even throw in rods/reels and tackle!

lol ... I feel the same way you do John but its every Wed. morning I feel this way... that lake can really get you down. Like I have always said. If you can go to Belleville lake in the middle of summer and in 4 hours pick up a limit of bass. You are a fisherman.... it's that tough...

Hang in there bud golf isn't all its cracked up to be... Very frustrating chasing that little white ball.

Thanks for the advice.  Actually golf drives me crazy.
