Cutting line

I used some Stainless fingernail clippers from brookstone for about 5 years.  Eventually they finally gave out.  Been thinking of buying some scissors instead of clippers next. My partner had a pair for few hours until he left it on the back deck during a run. So I never even got to try them out.

The last half of the year I bought about a half dozen cheap clippers to get me through the season. I doubt I'll do that again.

What do you use that you really like?

Use your teef

Small scissors or fingernail cutters. I can't stand the feeling of using my teef!!

It seems just about any decent scissors will cut mono and floro, but when it comes to braid I have yet to find a pair that doesn't get dulled up quickly when cutting braid.  I've probably tried 5 or 6 different pairs and they are all too dull to cut even 15 lb braid after just a couple weeks (I fish a lot so we'll say 30 or 40 cuts).

I keep scissors in the boat, But more or less use them for opening gulp bags or trimming skirts

I like the useing nail clippers or small side cutters for line

And i'll have one on the tackle bag, in the console, on the deck, around my neck or around the ram mount. And spares hanging up in the garage.
I seem to loose or break them before there rusted badly or get dull

I keep a Leatherman scissor-tool in my tackle box for cutting line.  In cold weather with gloves on I actually like a pair of Fiskars blunt-tip kids scissors 'cause they stay sharp and have the big finger holes. They're also great to carry on a lanyard while wading 'cause they won't puncture my waders.

   I use needle nose pliers with side cutter for cutting line.  Don't use much braid, so not sure they would hold up.  They're handy for taking hooks out also and they won't blow off the deck.

I use good quality stainless steel scissors.  They will cut braid. 

Alas, eventually no matter what I've tried, they all get dull.

Been looking at the "Sharks Tooth" for my spools. I too have scissors and I wear a clipper nail type around my neck.

My biggest problem seems to be that I can no longer SEE the line to cut it, so the tool is the least of my worries!  And I'm going to be another year older soon!  I just can't win.

I use a leatherman but I am always thinking about it going for a swim. I am thinking about switching to scissors. 

I really like the kid scissors with the waders.  I think thats a great idea.

I've toyed with the idea of finding one of these, but until then my pliers tend to do the job.  They're getting dull unfortunately.  Might have to splurge.

420 stainless will dull up pretty quick when cutting braid.  But looks like a decent tool if you use a lot of mono or floro.
