Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Had a district meeting yesterday in Mt. Clemens.  Our meeting was held in the Sea Ray room at the MacRay yacht club/marina.  This gave us a GREAT view over the Anchor Bay.  MacRay is a very nice place.  HUGE marina.  First question (though I've been there a couple times for meetings):  why have I never tried to drop shot or throw a jig around the hundreds of fairly deep pilings back in the dockominium slips?  Second question:  Who did I see trolling on the bay, braving the nasty wind and rain?  You sir have my complete respect!!!  Someone more dedicated and diehard than me!!!  Incredible.  Oh, and did you catch anything???

Another observation...  Took the "long way home" via Bass Pro Shops.  I mean, who wouldn't?  BUT, I have to say, M59 SUCKS at 5:00 in the afternoon.  18 miles from I-94 to I-75.  Took 50 minutes.  Should have taken a different route (that's what I get for following the Garmin!).  But I made it to Bass Pro and that entire bumper to bumper experience was soon forgotten.

Drove Juli's Hyundai Santa Fe for this trip, 4 cylinder FWD and gets in the low 20's for mileage.  My Escape is running a little rough right now (bad/going bad coil).  Tahoe gets 16 mpg.  Well with the strong tail wind I got about 27 mpg on the way over.  The trip home was a completely different store!!  20 mph (actually... 19.8 ) heading into the wind the entire way (190 miles one way) and a two hands on the wheel trip.  Oh well, averaged about 24 mpg... better than either of my vehicles would have done.

Last thing... to the driver of the fairly new standard cab Chevy Silverado 1500 pick up I saw on M59 (all 18 miles of it!!) with the "Made in Detroit" sticker in the back window... check the sticker inside your door... bet it says "assembled in Flint, MI" on it.  Or even... Oshawa/Silao Canada!!!  Oh my!!

Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

While I don't live up that way, my observations have always been that M-59 sucks all the time, other than pre-dawn hours on the way to one of the many Oakland County lakes.

My question is, how many rods did you "have to buy?" Being as you told me you like to do that so others don't have to.

Waterfoul

Too Funny Mike!  As a matter of fact, I didn't "have" to buy any rods this time.  They just didn't have any that needed to go home with me.

I did pick up a nice shiny black Save Phace mask though... now to have it painted or find some cool stickers for it!  Should really help on those cold spring/fall/rainy days.

I have a couple extra Skeeter stickers here.  Just figured I'd offer up some cool stickers!!!  Oh, I kill me.  ;D

Oh, by the way. there is a custom airbrush shop that is open on Apple Ave. here in Muskegon.  He is always putting cars, trucks, and bikes out front that he has done.  Might be worth checking out.  I'm sure there are quite a few in GR, but now you know about this one too.
