Was on Alcona Pond for the first time yesterday 7-11-06. Had a good time. Got on the water around 1030 am, ( I had the wife with me). We stayed to the north end for the most part. Started out around some matted weeds. I wanted to try a new top water (frog) to see how it was going to work. Fished the weeds for about 1/2 hours (no fish) and then moved over to the western shore.

Wife put the first fish in the boat, and I still have not heard the end of it. It did not matter that it was only about 10 inches long (smallie). We ended up fishing down the shore line with the wife putting 3 more dinks SM and a nice 2.5 lb LM in the boat. She was fishing a weightless senko. Meanwhile, I tried to work on my tube presentations, I caught a couple of dinks both SM and LM, along with a decent toothy critter.

Back to the campground around 1230pm. Didn't caught a ton, but it kept the wife interested, and ya according to her count she won (what I don't know).

Sounds like you had fun at least,I use to live up near there(Hale) and fished a couple tourneys there (one was at night)the weeds there were horrible.I did catch a 16 inch perch there it was over a pound,I put it in the freezer to save til I could afford to get it mounted but my mom thinking it was old fish fed it to one of her cats >:( ;D
I ain't as good as I once was, but I was good once as I ever was
