I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Ok.  I've seen the adds.  Did a little research.  But has anyone actually used this line.  Whats the report? ???

t-bone

I have it but I haven't used it on the water enough to give a detailed report. What I will say is that the first time I started tying on baits, the line was breaking EVERY time I tightened up the palomar knot. I was worried this was crap, then I saw that it needs a special know. I'll be trying that.

I was given a spool of 8lb test at the icast show to try out. I have fished a tourney on the line and have been using it in practice for about a 3 weeks now.

Here is what I know --- Right now it only comes in white but in september its suppose to be available in other colors.

The positives

It looks, feels and is stiff like braid however its not braid. It is  strong like braid, abrasion resistant and casts a light lure further than braid or mono will.

The negetives

It is not recomended for baitcasting as it tends to dig in.
It frays bad - The entire spool is all frayed and I am concerned about it integrety and after 3 weeks of use I believe I need to change it. 3 weeks sounds like a long time but I really havent used it all that much.
It only comes in white.
It costs more than braid.

I have not had any issues with knots breaking as the previous posted stated. I have used both an improved cinch and a palomar knot.

Here is the real question.... When would you use it over braid?

If braid is cheaper and obviously more durable why would you buy it?

The only advantage I see to the line is that it casts further than braid.

I have tried the line on my dock rod, senko rod, drop shot and I even gave it test in trash with a small soft plastic.

Dock fishing, drop shot and on a senko rod I saw no advantages to using it because i do not need the added casting lengh. As a light lure trash rod I saw some minor advantages.

Stcik with braid unless you have an aplication where you need a strong line that casts super far and are willing to pay the costs invloved with using it.

Thanks for the report. I am a little skeptical, but you never know.  :-\'

I have been using the new line in ten lbs test for about a month now, and so far it has held up well. I havent noticed any fraying of the line, nor have I had any knot break problems. I'm using it on a st.croix 6 foot premier rod with a pflueger president xt reel, so far so good. its extremley stiff with no memory, and not nearly as abrasive as braid. It has the classic braid feel minus the abrasivness. thus casting further then braid.

However, I'm not sure that the the benfits of this line justify the cost. the line still carries the single flaw...visabillity. still waiting for that braid flourocarb hybrid. after this line wares down i will probly go back to fireline with a flouro leader.

;D

Thanks for signing up noobie. Nice talking to you this morning. Hope you enjoy the website.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
