Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

My Bass club The wayne county bass anglers held our 2nd event of the season yesterday on Sylvan lake. I did not have anytime to pre-fish so I went out there and just went fishing. I have been on the lake a couple of times before so I kinda knew were I was going to start. I went to an underwater island in the main part of the lake were on my first cast with a pop-r a nice largemouth exploded on it, but missed. I fished the pop-r for about 10 more minutes with out another bite. I switched to a 4" power worm and I seen a bass come up and get some minnows and threw right on top of him and he nailed it. It was a smallie about 3lbs. His initial jump was at least 5 feet straight in the air and he stayed buttoned up and then he makes a horizontal leap that must have coverd 10 ft and gave me back my power worm. My co-angler caught 1 15" on the same bait and that was it for that spot. My co-angler for this tournament is 68 years old and has a difficult time moving around so I just got on the trolling motor and buzzed us over to the next spot which was a large sand flat that divides the north end of the lake from the south. I was throwing a baby one minues when I see a smallie following it up. He never hit the bait and stopped about 10 ft from the boat. I throw a zoom finnesse worm at him because it was the only rod I didnt have tangled up in the 10 rod mess I had on the bow of my boat and he got it. That is 1 for me. Just a small keeper. I fished around for about another hour on this flat and seen nothing else so we moved to the south end of the lake were 2 cannels go back and there is a nice channel leading to them about 20 ft deep. I fished one side leading into the cannels with nothing. It is now about 10:30 and I have one and my partner has one. I decided to go into one of the canals and fish the docks. I HATE FISHING BOAT DOCKS. Upon entering I catch keeper 2 on a case plastics magic stick in watermelon red color. He was about 2 lbs even. Through this canal I catch 2 more keepers including a 3lber. Now I am feeling better as I have 4 in the box with 2 hours left in the tournament. We go into the next canal were I get a smallie on the same bait that was 2-1/2 lbs. Thats number 5. We move across the flat at the mouth of this canal and I am throwing the baby one minues and I have another follower. I throw out the finnese worm and he gets it and I am able to cull the small one out. We just kept going back and forth on that drop off were I manage to catch 10 more keepers, and upgrade 3 of the 5 that I had. My partner still has one. I get another follower on the baby one and tell my partner to throw it right in the spot and he gets number 2. Shortly after that I see a fish on a bed in 7 ft of water and tell my partner were to cast and now he has number 3. Time is now up. We head back to the ramp were we float around out in the bay becuse of the tricky current and the fact that we have 15 boats to get out of the water. What a nightmare that ramp is. I ended up winning the event with just under 11lbs. We had a total of 9 limits brought in and every body weighed a fish except for one guy. What a beautiful lake. If you ever ge the chance try it out. It is close to home and is loaded with fish. I guess it is because it dosent see much pressure because of the ramp facility's and I dont think the homeowners fish very much out there.
