I was able to get out on Kent for about 7 hours Sunday (2:30-9:30).  A very weird and light bite all day.  We had a number of fish bumping cranks, spinnerbaits, traps, and chatter-type baits, but only a couple actually hooked up (I did get one fish on a horny toad ~2 lbs).  I switched over to a dropshot and stick bait (yes McCarter it was a Nemesis 5" KL Copper, tex-exposed).  The fish only took the stick bait when it was deadsticked.  Very slow, methodical way of fishing, but it was working.  Ended up for the day catching about 10 legal fish, the biggest being ~2.5.  A lot of very light bites, weight and then no fish (must have been picking up the tails, but not getting the hook...like I said, weird bite most of the day).  All largemouth, with one smallmouth caught on a dropshot.  My parter for the day was stubborn and only threw reaction baits until the very end of the day, when he switched over to a senko.  The water is still dirty, and there is a lot of "snot" grass.  I was cleaning baits off more than I was fishing with them.

Oh, almost forgot...best bites came in 6-8 foot of water.

"" My parter for the day was stubborn and only threw reaction baits ""

The funny thing is the only smallmouth I caught (which was on a dropshot) was caught in 1 foot of water.  We started throwing topwater later in the day and kept seeing fish busting.  Threw the stickbait, topwaters, etc. in one area where I kept seeing a fish chasing bait.  Rigged up the drop shot.  Tossed it over there and boom...2 pound smallmouth.  I can't deny that the dropshot catches the numbers...which is what turns a mediocre day into a decent one.  I still consider myself somewhat of a power fisherman, but the last year or two I've started moving over to the sissy side...lol.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
