Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Despite all the commotion with my wife's surgery this week, she and my mother I. Law cut me loose today to get a little fishing in. So, Waterfoul and I headed north.

First stop, Pentwater. We launched around 10 a.m.  We headed for STAY AWAY point 1. Actually we hit several spots. The water was around 45 degrees, and we had an east wind. In four hours we mustered up 10 smallies, and most if not all were keepers. We just fished deep water with Texas rigged plastics. The bite was slow, and as the day progressed, it became non existant.

At around 2, we trailered up and headed for Pere Marquette in hopes of a better bite. Wrong. We fished for  2.5 hours and he boated one smallie about 2 pounds, and a pike. I landed my first lake trout. I don't know what it is with me and trout when I'm smallie fishing lately.

It was a fun day. Nice chance to unwind a bit.

Glad to see you got out and had some fun. Well deserved after the tough week you had. What a great day to be out on the water

It definitely appears that the fall fishing for smallies is slowing down, even with the moderate temps. At least a few are still biting.  Gotta love November smallies !!!   Nice job guys !!!

Mike, forgot to mention that the last time I was out on the Benton Harbor stretch of the St. Joe river Tcook and I went 4 for 6 on lake trout.  They were just stacked in this one area. It was pretty fun.  Just wish they fought a little harder. Smallie fishing was a grind, so the trout were a bonus.

I was not impressed with the one I caught. I watched it hit right next to the boat, and it rolled twice when I got it to the surface. Thumbs down. The wood I caught fought harder.
