Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Finally caught a smallie out of Fremont Lake.

I have probably only fished Fremont a dozen times or so. I have caught a few pretty nice largemouth there, and some big by large pike too. I have seen pics of some pig smallies, and even watched people in my boat catch them. Today it all has changed.

I took my wife out. She wanted to sit in the boat, catch some sun, and just talk my ear off for a few hours without having to chase me around the house. Kinda hard to get away when all you have is 20 feet of fiberglass around or below you.  In all honesty, I enjoy taking her along. She and I don't get much one on one time with 3 kids at home.

We launch, and I run to a "community hole". I have had some really good bites there previously. I tie on identical baits for my wife and I. By the way, you guys should really check out River Rat's Revolution Baits. They rock. Anyways, we pull up and on my third cast, I get a soft bite, feels like a weed. But, weeds don't swim and give big head shakes!!!!  The fish feels stout. It is not wanting to come up at all. It runs under the boat. I'm taking it easy. I know its a good fish. My wife gets the net. In the water it looks like it may be a new personal best smallie for me. In the net, in the boat.

My best smallie is 4.5# from LSC. This one is only 3.17. Oh well. It's a good fish, and I finally got Fremont to give up a smallie. After a couple of pics, the fish is released, and swims off nice and easy.

Good job Mike !!!  Nice fish.  I've only fished it twice.  First time was a little tough.  Second trip pretty good.  Couple 3 pound smallies, some nice lgmouth, a 5# pike and a 5# walleye.  Water is always pretty stained there it seems.

Oh, and I'm glad the wife got a chance to talk "at" you.  :)

So was she.....I mean so was I.  She got dinner out of the deal. I got beer and dinner!

Waterfoul

The water has been pretty decent up there when I've fished it.

Big sacks have been weighed in any most of the tournies.
Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!
