Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Here is a little more detail than my last report written by our tournement director:

Lake: Smallmouth Galore!!
It didn't take long for me to understand why 3 of our 7 boats decided to fish Torch Lake instead of the infamous Lake Skegemog. Smallmouth Galore! All 6 guys, who fished Torch Lake, weighed in limits for a combined total of 88 lbs 12 oz on the first day!! Fourteen fish over 3 lbs were weighed in, two of those over 5 lbs! Although two 15+ lb limits came from Skegemog, Torch held the most quality fish. There were multiple "personal best" limits among those day one weights. Dave Steed, Jamie Lovely, Ken Gall, Larry Thomas & Rick Bauer all had their best days, ever. Ken Rybicki, Jerry Roher and Tony Lasswell all posted solid limits on Skegemog but found the weights just short of the Torch Lake weights. The total weight for both lakes on day one totaled a whopping 164 lbs. All (14) club members had fish on day one.

Although day two saw some lower weights, Torch Lake gave up another (6) limits to the three boats that fished it. Dave Steed had another first place victory with a 18 lb 3 oz limit. His two day total of 37 lbs 5 oz was an awesome weigh in. His non-boater partner, Rick Bauer, posted his back to back 2nd place finish. Rick had a combined 2 day total of 31 lbs 8 oz. Larry Thomas and Jamie Lovely finished 3rd and 4th while fishing together on Sunday.

The over-all fishing was outstanding for everyone. Although it's everyones desire to finish first, the amount of weight weighed in (a two day total of 290 lbs) and the number of fish over 3 lbs  (29) , made everyone a winner for our second and third tournament of the season.

Glad ya'll had a fantastic time up here.  Prolly met  a few of ya guys when ya were gassing up at the shell station in Elk Rapids. I pull the over night shift there.   You definatly hit Torch on the right few days as that kinda fishing is not a regular occurance out there.   In 23 years , I have only seen it loaded with lunkers like that one other time.   Hope you all had a good enuff time to plan another tourny in our area this year or next year.  We are glad to have your club up here.

I haven't fished Torch in a long time.........but those weights sound a little "lite" for such a big body of water and only 6 fishermen????

I would think it should have taken at least a 4Lb average to place.

But.........like I said.........I haven't fished Torch in a long time.

BS  ;)
