More Fishing Tips from our very own Scott Martin! What do you think? Do you agree? Or do you do something different? Let us know.

Generally I agree with him. Matching the forage is always a good idea. I think there is something he didn't cover and that is doing something a little different for our smallmouth lakes. If the target is smallmouth - throwing a little pink or chartreuse in for them is a good idea. I link to use it as a bit of an accent color and not the entire bait.

I got to agree with him on picking the colors for jerk baiting. Any info given by a pro like Scott Martin is going to be helpful. I go as natural as I can. Matching the forage that the bass would eat but sometimes the different profiles are a factor. You can ask yourself, Bomber or Rogue or Lucky Craft, or Live Target for that matter. They all have different profiles, actions, and sounds. After all that, the bass have to tell you what they're going to eat on any given day.

It's a short Jerk bait bite on the inland lakes for me
But I find it's a white belly or a orange belly. The fish will let you know

djkimmel

I like white bellies. Sometimes the bass don't care that I like white bellies. And they hit orange bellies. I really like bright colors for smallies. Especially during spring and fall. Sometimes real calm, warm, clearing trends cause me to throw natural colors instead.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
