I took advantage of a cancelled meeting at the last minute to not go back to work, but instead hook up the boat and head to the lake. I decided to go to Orchard. I wanted to try some spots I havent fished before out there so I headed to the southern shore, it goes from some pretty deep water up to a sandy 5 foot flat pretty quickly. I still had the same crankbait on as I did sunday from Kent Lake, so I gave it a shot. Its a DT-4 in the Bluegill pattern. A dozen cast into fishing I picked up the first fish of the afternoon, about a 2 lb smallie. Continued following along the edge of the drop and the flat. I notice a few smaller fish cruising the flats, but didn't see any beds. I picked up the 2nd fish of the afternoon about 100yards from the 1st on the same crankbait, this one was just a dink largemouth. Further down the shore I saw a couple of small LM hanging together in an opening in the middle of a weed patch. I picked up my shakey Head rig and flipped it into the middle with them, just to see if I could get something to take it, and have my first shakey head fish, well the smaller fish were eying it up just as a larger one came out of the weeds and picked it up before any of the littler ones got a change to take it. This one went about 2.5 lbs. Last fish came just before I was going to call it quits. About a 3.5 lb Smallie on a jerkbait. The wind was pickin up the sky was darkening and the temp was droppin, so I decided that would be my que to head for the ramp. It was a good night out there, other then the High School Crew teams I think I was the only other boat out there.

Sounds like a perfect evening. Those fish would be great on any weeknight tourney. Great job!  :)
