I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Saturday night I got a PM from a fellow GLB member, name is Slipkey. It is titled "Your Skeeter".  He tells me it is identical to the one he used to own, and gives me the year, make, and model of the boat.

I reply back telling him he is correct. Sunday morning I get up at 4 for work, and I have another message from him. This time there is a hull ID number. Curiosity gets the best of me and I go out in the garage to check it out. It's a match. Wow!  I message him back and tell him it's the boat. I also told him anout the changes I have made to it.

In his next message he gives me a history lesson on my boat. He even remembers specifics of a scratch that he put in the thing. It turns out that he custom ordered it, and had it in Wisconsin, Illinois, and here in Michigan.

I just thought it was pretty cool that he got ahold of me. All from a couple of pics that I have here on GLB. From the sound of it, he and I will be getting together to do some fishing this year. It never crossed my mind to think that someone may contact me that used to own my boat. But, I'm glad he did. It's kind of neat to hear about some of the places my boat has been.

I had the same thing happen with me on my Champion. Former owner contacted me when a friend of his saw me fishing Kent Lake. I know the history of mine too.

I only got 3 years of history on it. But, I was happy to talk to the original owner. He and I are talking about doing some fishing in the very near future. Looking forward to it.

I thought it was cool too!  Looking forward to hitting Muskegon from the back deck for old times sake!  I took my wife (then girlfriend) out for her first boat ride in that Skeeter on the Cal-Sag Channel and the Chicago Lakefront.  She didn't tell me, until much later, that A) she didn't know how to swim and that B) riding around in a bass boat on Lake Michigan scared her half to death. She hasn't been out fishing with me since... :o

Genie, I'm waiting.......Let's have it.

Ironically, my wife isn't real fond of full throttle rides in it either. She grabs ahold of the grab bar and pretty much puts her head between her knees until the boat stops. She's a trooper though. She says she doesn't understand why we need to go that fast on the water. I told her that she never will. That is for us fishermen to understand, not them.

I took my wife through 4 foot rollers out of Les Cheneaux Islands in the UP once.

Once...

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

My wife isn't too bad on the boat. We have been recreational boaters for quite some time. I always told her to wait until she gets to ride in a bass boat. My Nitro only went about 58, and she said that was too fast. When I got the Skeeter and ripped her up to 70 with my wife the first time, she didn't care much for that. Still doesn't. I try to keep her and the kids out of big water. No need to scare them. They don't care much for the big lake, but they are going to have to get over that being as we have our new pontoon. I can't wait to run from Muskegon to Grand Haven with that.

My lovely bride grew up in a "fishing" family. She's been out on St. Clair with me. I take her when the weather is more "wife" friendly. She absolutely loves being out there. When she hooked into her first big Smallie, she said to me that she understood why I went fishing there rather than any where else in the spring. With her very busy schedule she still tries to get out fishing with me 6 to 8 times a year.

Um...that sounds kind of like an episode of "Deadliest Catch".  :o

Jealous!  My own bride grew up as the oldest of two daughters of a former green beret and their childhood adventures with dad were usually closer to military exercises than recreation.  :o They make for funny stories, but it also means she's pre-disposed to be cynical about any outdoor 'adventure'.  My daughter, on the other hand, would rather be doing something outdoors than anything else. :)
