I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

An update. I was notified just a bit ago that they have begun to copy my webserver data over to the new webserver. That means at some point this afternoon, evening, early morning, there may be periods when you can't login, can't update your profile, can't create new posts or reply to existing posts.

The website may also be down for a short time or two depending upon timing. The network people assure me they are doing everything they can to keep any noticeable effects minimally visible to website visitors. If any of this happens, please be patient and try back 10-15 minutes later. At worst, try back a couple hours later.

I had been considering a hard drive swap anyway after the one strange downtime I had last September during the Fall MadWags event. We never did determine the exact cause of that and never had any further errors or issues to clue us in with all hardware tests passing. They had recommended a hard drive swap to take away the most likely possible cause. That would have required actually a lot more downtime than just moving to a new server.

Once I found out in October that I would be moved to a newer, faster server at some point anyway, I delayed the hard drive swap and crossed my fingers. No abnormal errors since and this way is a bigger improvement over just swapping out 1 server part.

I will have a day or two of work behind the scenes after the move is completed to get everything that I work with back to where it needs to be but all of you should not notice too much after the move is completed in the next 12 to 24 hours. Probably closer to 12 hours. Once the move is completed, things should appear and work the same. Hopefully a little faster. And I'm working on other improvements and changes that will also help that this year too. Thanks!

You know a person with webserver admin capability gets a false sense of feeling 'the power' of the force or something... 'I can do ANYTHING in this little webserver universe bwaa haa haa haaaaa' ::)
