You just never know who you'll run into on the sidelines at Michigan Stadium. I know a bunch of you are NHL hockey fans, waiting for games to start back up, so I thought I ought to get a picture of this particular Wolverine Fan to share with you.

During the November 10, 2012 Maize and Blue victory over the Northwestern wildcats, Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard was hanging out  in the NW student corner of The Big House end zone rooting for MICHIGAN!!

Anyone who roots for my beloved MICHIGAN Wolverine football team is a friend of mine - all 110,000 plus at every home game!!

Interesting that this particular game featured an amazing wide receiver catch to give us a shot at the tie and then victory after I realize just before the game started, John Wangler passed by in the student corner. I wish I would have had a chance to get a picture to go with the one I took a few weeks ago of Anthony Carter, who spent a good part of our victory over sparty standing just a few feet from me in the student end zone.

QB Wangler and star received Anthony Carter combined for one of the most exciting last minute, big-play pitch and catch touchdown moments in MICHIGAN history when the Great Bob Ufer was still calling the plays!

They have a new guy doing the announcements at Michigan Stadium this year now too. His first game was really funny. He said something without realizing he had his mic on! I love bloopers! So far, he has not repeated that mistake...

You sure it's not still Carl Grapentine doing the stadium play by play and announcements?  He was doing them when I was there for homecoming.  He took over after what's his name died several years ago.  Carl has been the band announcer for about 30 years now.  He's a radio host and a world class tenor from Chicago.

I believe that is the guy doing the stadium announcements. I believe it was at the first home game this year they introduced him as the past band announcer and now new stadium announcer replacing the previous person. They stated that it was his first game as the stadium announcer though I thought he sounded like the guy from last year - couldn't really tell a difference.

I can't recall if it was that very first game where he talked with the mic on but I seem to recall he did that very soon after he was introduced as the new announcer. I thought it was funnier because he got his first flub out of the way immediately!

That's the way to do it! Right away and get it over with!! Smooth sailing from that point on... ;D
