I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

I see alot of guys out with the bibs on and with this cold weather Id like to get some good ones. I see them on bass pro etc. Any info or pros or cons on any. I hate ordering something like this because of my size (6'4 300). Id like to try on first. Any ideas of good ones? I was a bit nippy monday.

Frank

i have cabelas top of the line, same as bass pro 100mph suit.  i was told now its like the new 200mph suit.  its great, i love it.  cost close to 600.  watch the sales like a hawk.  you should be able to get one or the other cheap by Christmas.  I paid 220 i think with shipping and tax and a $60 tackle bag.  look at the old threads, a lot of us bought them at the same time.

BIGSHOW

Ill keep an eye out. They just sent me some coupons I used. Like you said with christmas i'm sure more are coming. At least I could try them on there,if they have my size

Never pay full price for the Guidewear since it seems to always go on sale.  I spent around $300 for my entire suit and I've seen it lower than that.  Great purchase!  I checked out the BPS 100 mi/hr and the Guidewear was a little heavier.  For open-water fishing, get the uninsulated and layer up underneath.  Good fishing

I have a full set of BPS Pro Qualifier gortex and love it.  I probably fit into the medium but bought the large so I could layer up under it.  Had it for 2 full years now with no signs of them wearing out at all, and I fish a lot in the spring/fall so they get used!
Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

I like the guide wear but am sure the Bass Pro suit will do fine. I also would get a polar fleece suit to wear under it.

I have a BPS 100 mph suit....I bought my wife a Cabelas Guidewear suit...The guidewear appears to be better quality IMHO....I agree with waiting until around Xmas...I paid around Half price at cabelas for my Wife's suit...

BIGSHOW

@ Jerkbait. You said uninsulated. Is that to cut down on bulk? Or just so you can wear it in not so fridged conditions? Or other.

bigmojet

I just bought the cabelas guidewear a few weeks ago cause they had 4x cause Im about same size bigshow.. Each piece was $50 offand i had a bunch of cabela visa $ to use. Went uninsulated. Excellent product. Glad i finally pulled the trigger.

BIGSHOW

Thats what I figure I need,4x to be comfortable. I also have the Cabelas $. So that will get me a little more off. Problem is when I go there I know I will walk out with more than just the bibs and more on the credit card.lol

6 lb Smallmouth

Yes Bigshow.  The insulated Guidewear is bulky and would be tough to cast with while wearing.  I tried on both sets at the store when I was making my decision.  As it is, the uninsulated is a little difficult to cast with while wearing but it is doable.  Most of the time, I wear just the bibs and only wear the parka when I am going for a run or if it is below 40.  Wearing some windstopper fleece and quality, cold weather thermals is the answer.

The retail stores will rarely stock the 4xl and 5xl so u might call ahead.

BIGSHOW

Did you just get lucky and they had it? Or did you order?

Frank

I have no problem casting with the whole outfit on.  I do have a problem finding stuff in it because mine has 8357 pockets and I never know which one I used

BIGSHOW

Lol, is yours non insulated frank? My biggest problem is finding one to fit my big a** . 6'4 300 isn't that big. I just can't ever find crap my size. Always goes to 2x. I may be 3 or if I layer maybe 4x. Gander has one of their brand and they have 50 off. That makes it 170 . If I don't like it I can take it to the store for a refund ,which is about 5 mi from my house.

fiker

I bought the Pro Qualifier bibs and parka on sale a couple of Springs ago.  The parka has the zippers for an additional zip in fleece if you choose.

I didn't buy the zip in fleece, but use other fleece tops I have instead.  I've been very happy with the entire set up.   I"ve always stayed both warm and dry.  I've used it in some pretty extreme conditions as well.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Mine is not insulated.  I can fit my leather coat under it so you don't need to up size.  I typically wear a t shirt and sweat shirt under it on the single digit days.  It really works good.  The pockets are big enough for gloves, hats, a boga grip, food, drinks, smokes, tools, tackle, an anchor, and a small row boat

bigmojet

Bigshow i went to retail and they only had 3x. Saw the quality  so ordered online. Its easier  to layer depending on weather. I probably could have been fine with 3x but wanted a little more room.

BIGSHOW

The one at gander is a frabil. I did find one when I got on the computer from cabelas. It is kinda by my work. So maybe ill go look at it, try it on and order what I need.

Firefighter Jeff

I got the same deal as Frank.  Dan posted here that Cabela's was running a sale.  Sure enough on the first page it showed Guidewear 40 to 60% off.  I got XXlg Tall bibs and long parka for about $250 and the tacklebag!!!!!!  Unfortunately this last weeks vacation I HAD to use them everyday I fished because of the incliment weather.  I got the uninsulated.  They are flat out awesome.  Kept me warm and dry in some really bad conditions up in Indian River.  Not promoting Cabela's because I'm sure they all work well.  Just saying you need to get some soon !!!!  At your height you should look into the talls. I'm 6'2" and i'm sure past 260#
